Pennsylvania families are currently impacted by changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many early childhood education providers have renewed commitments to serve families regardless of these shifts, leading to challenges associated with meeting these demands.
The GIANT Company, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Key, a business partner of the Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL), is offering a grant opportunity for early childhood education providers, licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS), and in good standing, for those providers who have remained operational for at least part or all of the pandemic to date, with full-time or partial operating hours, during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing care for children. The funding is intended to assist with meeting the unique needs of and engaging families and children served during the pandemic. These needs may include, but are not limited to, increased staffing, expanded operating hours, care of school-age children, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or other sanitation measures, increased technology needs or services, school-age virtual learning labs, or serving of meals or addressing food insecurity needs of families and children served.
Applicants should provide information on how COVID-19 has challenged their business and describe ways they are overcoming and providing innovative services to families as they see needs arise.
Awards will range between $2,000 – $10,000 per approved and eligible application.
