The Pennsylvania Farm to School Grant Program is open! This program provides funding for schools to improve access to healthy, local foods and increase agriculture education opportunities for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?
Any school, program, or center with pre-kindergarten through fifth grade classes, located and operated in Pennsylvania is eligible to apply for up to $15,000. Preschool programs operated by schools and childcare centers are encouraged to apply, but family and group childcare homes are not eligible at this time.
GOOD TO KNOW!
Project applications for the purchase of local foods to feed students will be favored. Specifically, these funds can be used in conjunction with federal funds for the purchase of local products in federal child nutrition programs.
Operating virtually? No problem! You can still meet the program requirements on raising awareness with students by simply including a flyer about the local farm and food, or even a sticker with the meal for delivery!
You can learn more about the program guidelines on PA Bulletin or on the Department of Agriculture’s website.
The application period is Aug. 16 – Oct. 1, 2021 and the application is EASY! Projects must be completed by June 30, 2022.
