Student Advocacy Toolkit 2008
College students in early childhood education programs at Pennsylvania’s colleges
and universities can play a special role in community outreach – they have the interest,
knowledge and energy to truly build public support for quality early education.
All they need is a little guidance and some tools to get them started.
The 2nd edition of its Student Advocacy Toolkit to help teachers in college ECE
programs to discuss public policy and advocacy in their classrooms.
Teachers may want to devote a portion of a class or more than one class to using
the toolkit, which includes:
- Discussion guide for students to read before the session
- Powerpoint presentation to use during the session
- Fact sheet and talking points on Pennsylvania’s early childhood initiatives
- Sample letters, flyers, and activity ideas to help spread the word
