Pennsylvania Key

The role of the Pennsylvania Key is to work with the Office of Child Development to provide statewide leadership in the development of an integrated and coordinated system of program quality improvements and professional development supports for early childhood education.

Pennsylvania Key Programs and Services

Management of statewide professional development initiatives, such as: Better Kid Care, ECELS, Project TEACH, Regional School-Age Initiatives, Capital Area Early Childhood Training Institute (CAECTI)

  • Coordination of the Infant/Toddler Mental Health Project

  • Coordination of work with higher education community

  • Implementation of special quality improvement initiatives

  • Development of career lattice

  • Provision of technical assistance to community engagement groups

  • Coordination of regional planning efforts with the Regional Keys

  • Management of Environment Rating Scale Assessments related to Keystone STARS

  • Administers the Head Start State Collaboration Office

  • Administers PreK Counts
